Four Seasons Hôtel des Bergues: Geneva's oldest grand hotel
On the Quai des Bergues, on the Rhône facing Île Rousseau, the Hôtel des Bergues has welcomed guests since 1834. The oldest of Geneva's grand hotels, now a Four Seasons rated 4.7 from 3,000 reviews.

The verdict
The Hôtel des Bergues opened in 1834, which makes it the elder statesman of Geneva's grand hotels. Its neoclassical façade looks onto Île Rousseau and the Pont des Bergues, where the Rhône leaves the lake.
Now a Four Seasons, it scores 4.7 from more than 3,000 Google reviews, the most solid rating among the city's palaces.
Location
It is the most central palace: Rue du Rhône and its watchmakers just across the bridge, the Old Town about ten minutes away, Cornavin station roughly the same. The Quai du Mont-Blanc starts a few steps away.
The banks of the Rhône are slightly less exposed to traffic than the main quay, without losing the view over the water.
Our advice
This is the palace to choose for a week of watch appointments in town, and the most expensive in our late-November check. For the fair's public weekend, it already showed no rooms at all on Google Hotels.
