The verdict

The Café du Soleil is the answer Genevans give when asked where to eat fondue. A village café dining room, a quiet square in Petit-Saconnex, and the moitié-moitié of Gruyère and Vacherin Fribourgeois.

Its Google rating of 4.5 from more than 3,300 reviews is the most solid among the city's fondue addresses.

On the menu

Fondue first, at around 25 to 26 CHF according to secondary sources. The menu also has brasserie dishes for those who do not want cheese.

Our advice

Book, especially in the evening and at weekends: the room is full of regulars. The area is outside the tourist centre, easy to combine with a visit to the Palais des Nations or the Red Cross Museum nearby.
