The Jet d'eau of Geneva with a rainbow over the harbour

Why go?

The Jet d'eau is the image of Geneva, and its most-reviewed Google listing: 4.7 from more than 19,000 reviews. It shoots 500 l/s to a height of 140 m, at the end of the Eaux-Vives jetty.

You can see it from all around the harbour, but you really feel it walking along the jetty when the wind blows the spray back.

Good to know

It is switched off for its annual maintenance from 2 November to 3 December 2026, and it also stops in strong wind or frost. Its hours change with the seasons, longer in summer.

Our advice

For photos, the Quai du Mont-Blanc at the end of the day gives the best angle. Before going in winter, check that it is running: our full guide to the Jet d'eau gives the season's hours.

Yes, the Eaux-Vives jetty leads right to its base. Expect to get wet when the wind blows the water onto the jetty.
